The production, part of TEZER 2026 and Democratic Memory events, focuses on the human experience of leaving one's home and embarking on an uncertain journey to a safe place. The play connects the exile caused by the Civil War with present-day forced displacements.
Initiated approximately ten years ago, the project emerged in response to the migratory crisis in the Mediterranean and events like those in Lampedusa. The company began artistically exploring concepts such as leaving, losing one's home, crossing borders, surviving, and starting anew, translating these experiences into the language of body and movement.
The performance in Sant Quirze de Besora is also part of the Democratic Memory activities, linking to the major exodus of the Republican exile in 1939, when nearly half a million people crossed the Pyrenees into France fleeing war and repression.
The connection between that exile and current migrations does not aim to equate different historical contexts but to highlight recurring human experiences: leaving home, facing fear and uncertainty, crossing borders, and seeking a safe place. This perspective allows democratic memory to be understood not just as a remembrance of the past but also as a tool for reflecting on the present.
Following the performance, a contextualization of the work was held with the audience, delving into the project's origins, creative process, and the meaning of the scenes. This conversation space complemented the artistic proposal and fostered a shared reflection.
The activity was made possible thanks to the support of the Diputació de Barcelona, which enables municipalities to promote cultural and democratic memory initiatives like this one.
