The president of the Diputació de Lleida, Joan Talarn, participated this Wednesday in the inauguration of the conference ‘Transformative Innovation as a tool for social impact in research and transfer’, held at the campus of the University of Lleida (UdL). Also present were the Director General of Technological Innovation and Scientific Internationalization, Javier Selva, and the Vice-Rector for Transfer and Territory of the UdL, Eva Martín.
During his speech, Talarn stressed the need to address complex challenges such as depopulation, energy transition, climate change, and the transformation of the production model. He recalled that the Diputació already supports these areas and emphasized the importance of collaboration between public institutions, universities, companies, and civil society to build joint responses. In this regard, he mentioned the Shared Agenda ‘Lleida, Land of Opportunities’, launched in 2020 by the Diputació, as an effective tool for the economic transformation of the territory.
The president pointed out that transformative innovation goes beyond research, focusing on better connection between different actors. He highlighted that the major territorial challenges require a joint approach, where knowledge, institutions, companies, and society work in the same direction.
Talarn also valued the fruitful collaboration between the Diputació de Lleida and the Universitat de Lleida, calling it a key alliance within the G10 to drive the progress of the lands of Lleida, Pyrenees, and Aran as a leading territory in innovation and talent attraction.
