The Minister of Territory, Housing, and Ecological Transition, Sílvia Paneque, criticized the votes against housing decrees and the shared purchase measure by Junts, Vox, and the PP, stating that "it is a shame that this opportunity has been lost" and that the party Junts "will have to explain this decision very well".
Paneque made these remarks during the signing of an agreement in Sort (Pallars Sobirà) between the Catalan Land Institute (INCASÒL), the Municipality of Sort, and the Catalan Housing Agency (AHC). This agreement will enable the construction of 39 subsidized housing units and 39 parking spaces.
The new development will be built by utilizing a half-finished structure at Neroses Street, 4-6, initially promoted by Pyrenees Tour. The total planned investment for this project is 5.84 million euros. INCASÒL has acquired the plots and the existing structure for €460,000 plus taxes.
The minister defended that "from the Generalitat Government, we are activating the most ambitious housing policies we have ever had", allocating all economic and human resources to address the "number one problem for Catalans".
Paneque highlighted that this project will help rehabilitate "urban wounds" such as unfinished structures from the 2008 property bubble. It is planned that 25% of the homes will be allocated to young people under 35, and up to 10% will be for addressing the municipality's social needs.
This initiative is part of policies to guarantee the right to decent housing and contribute to the population's rootedness in the mountain regions.
