The Mayor of Ivars d'Urgell, Joan Carles Sánchez, launched a series of periodic meetings with elderly residents to discuss essential municipal topics without intermediaries.

The initiative arose during a visit to the Centre de Serveis, aiming for users of this center and retirement homes to communicate their concerns directly to the mayor. This format allows the mayor to personally explain municipal decisions and gather requests.
In the initial sessions, participants addressed public interest matters such as the municipal budget, construction timelines, and common requests like street repairs, improved cleaning, and tree management. The proposal for a visit to Cal Sant, a historic building recently acquired by the municipality, also emerged.

"This is not forgotten."

Health was another prominent topic, featuring praise for the medical service but also complaints about the difficulty of having it available more days a week. Simultaneously, attendees highlighted the positive aspects of life in Ivars d'Urgell, especially the network of associations and the high level of cultural activity.
These meetings reinforce the idea that when politics “comes down to the dining room,” more direct communication is fostered, reducing the distance between the administration and the citizenry.
