A rescue operation by the Catalan Firefighters (Bombers de Catalunya) was launched on Saturday evening in Cornudella de Montsant (Priorat) following a mountain accident report received at 9:28 PM.
The incident occurred when a 42-year-old man fell approximately 12 meters while returning from a climbing activity. As a result of the fall, the individual suffered multiple fractures.
The rescue operation was particularly challenging due to the injured person's location in an area accessible only by a difficult trail. Emergency teams took about an hour to reach the site, another hour to stabilize the casualty in situ, and an additional hour to complete the evacuation to the main path.
The operation involved personnel from the Catalan Firefighters and the SEM (Catalan Medical Emergency System), who provided medical attention to the injured man before his transfer to a hospital.
