The program, managed by the European High Performance Computing Joint Undertaking (EuroHPC), aims to boost the continent's computational capacity. The call, which will remain open until November 12, foresees a global investment of 30 billion euros, with significant public participation to ensure the strategic autonomy of the European Union.
The Móra la Nova bid falls under the second lot of the call, which requires facilities with a capacity exceeding 100,000 processors. These infrastructures must combine advanced software, cloud solutions, and high-speed connectivity, in addition to meeting energy efficiency standards.
The project is presented in collaboration with San Fernando de Henares and has the support of Portugal. Competition for funding includes proposals from states such as Germany, Greece, and Italy. The winners will be announced in early 2027, following a technical evaluation that will analyze the business model's viability and the impact on the European technological ecosystem.
