The Camprodon City Council today conducted a phytosanitary treatment on the publicly owned boxwood in Rocabruna. This action follows the detection of box tree moth larvae, a pest that severely affects these shrubs.
The specialized company hired by the council carried out the treatment with the primary objective of protecting the public specimens and ensuring their long-term conservation.
“"Caring for the boxwood is everyone's responsibility."
In light of this situation, the council is calling on all residents and property owners with boxwood on private land to also apply the necessary treatments. The box tree moth can affect both public and private specimens, and the involvement of all owners is crucial for controlling the pest and preserving the municipality's natural heritage.
The City Council will continue to monitor and care for the specimens under its ownership, while also encouraging citizens to take proactive measures for their private boxwood.
