The project, pending approval from the Department of Territory, is slated for tendering within the remainder of the year, with the roundabout construction scheduled for early 2027. This measure aims to deter drivers on the urban sections of the C-38 from exceeding speed limits, particularly on the northern side where the new carbur bridge is being built.
Mayor Albert Coma emphasized the necessity of this action to ensure safety and improve access to the industrial estate, noting that excessively high speeds have been detected at this entry point.
In addition to the roundabout, the council also plans to construct two to three raised pedestrian crossings to further reduce traffic speed. This decision was prompted by a significant accident last year that could have had severe consequences, highlighting the importance of adhering to traffic rules.
With the new Carbur bridge becoming operational, the northern entrance to the municipality is expected to become straighter, a development that concerns the council due to a potential increase in vehicle speed. The new bridge is anticipated to be operational between September and October.
