Molló's Main Square renovated for pedestrians with new urban furniture.

The Molló Town Council has completed the majority of the renovation works for the Main Square and Church Street, transforming them into pedestrian-priority areas.

The Molló Town Council has carried out a significant renovation in the municipality's historic center, focusing on the Main Square and Church Street. The interventions have prioritized the conversion of these spaces into pedestrian zones, reducing and organizing parking and creating a single platform that unifies the level of the square and the street.
The works, expected to be fully completed by November, include the undergrounding of overhead cabling, the comprehensive renewal of the sewer system and pavement, as well as the installation of new urban furniture and landscaping. These efforts aim to revitalize the town's social, commercial, and tourist life, eliminating the previous issues of disordered cabling and difficult-to-navigate sidewalks.
The total investment for the project amounts to 280,720 euros (VAT included). Of this amount, 182,468 euros (65%) have been financed by the European Union through the Interreg VI-A Spain-France-Andorra program (POCTEFA 2021-2027), while the remaining 98,252 euros have been covered by the Town Council's own funds.
This initiative is part of the cross-border project Patrimc@t II, which aims to restore heritage in 11 municipalities across the Pyrenees, on both the Spanish and French sides. The project is driven by AECT Les Valls Catalanes, an entity that brings together 44 towns from various Catalan regions and the French Vallespir, with the goal of preserving cross-border heritage and consolidating a shared identity.
