The new facility, spanning 120 square meters, includes two bedrooms, a living room, a storage area, and a parking zone, providing a larger and more functional space for healthcare professionals. This base is part of the new emergency medical transport model in the Lleida Health Region, which involves an investment of over 121.8 million euros over five years and a 40% increase in ambulances, from 57 to 80 vehicles.
The strategic distribution of SEM resources, based on healthcare activity, demographic data, and orographic characteristics, aims to improve coverage in Baix Segrià. Dynamic management allows for the mobilization of available units according to real-time emergencies, with a comprehensive territorial overview.

The Alcarràs City Council has facilitated the base's location through a five-year land lease. A provisional site is currently in use while efforts are underway to establish the permanent base at the town's former slaughterhouse.
During 2025, SEM managed nearly 82,000 incidents in the Lleida Health Region, with 44,209 requiring resource mobilization. Across Catalonia, SEM handled close to 2.8 million health alerts, resulting in over 2.1 million incidents.
