Residents in Alcarràs will vote on whether to demolish or maintain the old Primary Care Center (CAP) before the new facility opens in Spring 2026.

The new Primary Care Center (CAP) in Alcarràs, costing over 3.3 million euros, is scheduled for completion in February and will become operational between March and April 2026. The construction, which began in September 2024 after an eight-year wait, is located between Horta and Pompeu Fabra streets, adjacent to the N-230 highway.
Mayor Teresa Malla confirmed that the transfer of staff and services from the current facility to the new one will be quick once the building is ready. The new center is expected to double its capacity, increasing the number of family doctors from two to four, according to the Department of Health.

"It is true that the consulted technicians advise tearing it down and building a new infrastructure."

Regarding the old center, which suffers from lack of space and requires extensive sewage system reform, two options have been presented: reusing it as a headquarters for local associations or demolishing it to create a landscaped green area. Malla stressed that the final decision rests with the residents.
