Rural Agents have reported a very high risk of forest fires this Sunday in 161 Catalan municipalities, mainly in the regions of Ponent, Central Catalonia, and Terres de l'Ebre.

The extreme risk extends across Alt Urgell, Anoia, Bages, Baix Camp, Baix Ebre, Conca de Barberà, Garrigues, Noguera, Priorat, Ribera d’Ebre, Segarra, Segrià, Solsonès, Terra Alta, and Urgell. In these areas, Plan Alfa has been activated at its highest level, 3, and maximum caution is urged for any outdoor activities to prevent fires.
Additionally, a total of 423 municipalities are under high fire danger, emphasizing the need for extreme vigilance during this period.
This risk situation is compounded by the intense heatwave affecting Catalonia. Maximum temperatures are expected to reach 40 degrees Celsius in the Lleida region and exceed 35 degrees in numerous areas of the pre-coastal and inland regions.
