Almacelles bids farewell to the 'Sardanes a la fresca' season with nearly 400 dancers

Nearly 400 sardanistas gathered last night in the Plaça de la Vila of Almacelles to bid farewell to the 'Sardanes a la fresca' season in Segrià.

The closing event for the 'Sardanes a la fresca' season in Segrià took place last night in the Plaça de la Vila of Almacelles, bringing together nearly 400 sardanista dancers. The event featured a performance by the Cobla 11 Setembre, which played pieces such as “L’esquirol sardanista” by Carles Santiago, “Confiança d’argent” by Òscar Barqué, and “Sardanes a la lluna” by Josep Capell.
Several authorities attended the event, including the mayor of Almacelles, Antoni Arnó; David Masot Florensa, president of the Consell Comarcal del Segrià; Àlvaro Boqué, 3rd vice-president and head of the Culture area of the Consell Comarcal, the organizing body for the sardanista tour; and Pepita Solsona, president of the Federació Sardanista de Lleida. Also present were Andreu Vàzquez, director of the Institut d’Estudis Ilerdencs, and Montserrat Parra, director of the Territorial Services in Lleida for the Department of Culture of the Generalitat.
The celebration included the participation of local pubillatge representatives: Mar Quintana, Comarcal Pubilla of Segrià; Dídac García, Comarcal Hereu; Núria Jaria, 1st Comarcal Lady; and Andrei Pedro, 2nd Comarcal Cabaler.
During the evening, authorities presented diplomas to the participating sardanista groups. In this 21st edition, the awards went to Miriam Canela Mateu (Amics de la Sardana d’Almacelles), Maria Montoy (Grup sardanista de l’Associació 50 i més, from Alcarràs), Joan Brenes i Caro (Associació Aufés Sardanes, from Alfés), Paquita González Larregula (Amics de la Sardana d’Alguaire), and Pilar Planella Rubinat (Colla sardanista Dansaires del Pi, from Alpicat).
Also receiving diplomas were Maria Serra Domènech (Agrupació sardanista Artesa de Lleida), Pepita Elvira del Rio (Grup Sardanista 27 d'Abril, from Lleida), Teresa Prats Ricart (Grup sardanista Balàfia, from Lleida), Marisol Bosch Puig (Agrupació sardanista de Puigverd de Lleida), Rosendo Borràs (Agrupació sardanista Germanor, from Torrefarrera), and Àngels Montserrat Muste (Escola Sardanista de Torres de Segre).
'Sardanes a la fresca' in Segrià is supported by the Department of Culture of the Generalitat de Catalunya, the Institut d’Estudis Ilerdencs, the Diputació de Lleida, and the Federació Sardanista de les Comarques de Lleida, as well as the town councils of the participating municipalities, in this case Almacelles.
