The fair, now in its thirtieth edition, was initially established to commemorate the 850th anniversary of the Charter of Settlement granted by Count Ramon Berenguer IV. This weekend, the market features a historical reenactment of a key event: the royal marriage of the count to Peronella of Aragon. This performance is presented by the Association of the Festa de Moros i Cristians of Lleida, with contributions from Marta Pampalona and the Club Rítmica Almenar.
The market boasts approximately 90 stalls offering artisanal products and gastronomic delights themed around the medieval era. Activities will continue today, including the award ceremony for the XI Bookmark Contest, dance performances, and shows by Els Traginers.
The closing of the Almenar Medieval Market will feature a parade by the company La Cremallera Teatre and Enigmes Teatre, marking the end of a celebration that highlights the history and culture of the Segrià region.
