Nearly 100 residents from Lleida live in Persian Gulf conflict zones

Official data shows 86 people from the region are currently living in countries like UAE, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia.

Approximately 86 people from Lleida are currently residing in Persian Gulf countries affected by the ongoing military tensions involving Israel, the USA, and Iran.

According to the National Statistics Institute (INE), the United Arab Emirates is the primary destination, hosting 62 residents from the Catalan province. This community has doubled since the 2021 pandemic. Other significant groups are located in Qatar and Saudi Arabia.

Conversely, Lleida is home to 34 Iranians and 11 Israelis. The Iranian community in the region has seen a 100% increase over the last four years, with most members living in towns outside the provincial capital.
