CUP Lleida is considering not presenting its own list for the 2027 municipal elections, according to sources close to the party, which is also evaluating a possible broad coalition with the Comuns.

This hypothesis, initially reported by the newspaper Ara, has been confirmed by internal voices within the CUP. The decision would imply a different strategy from previous elections, seeking new ways to gain representation in the Paeria de Lleida.
In the 2023 municipal elections, the CUP obtained 4.58% of the votes, a figure that left them just a few tenths of a percentage point short of the 5% needed to secure a councilor and regain their presence in the city council, which they had lost in 2019. The anti-capitalist party first gained representation in the Paeria in 2015, with two councilors.
The possibility of running with the Comuns, who secured one councilor in 2023, would not be framed as a traditional electoral coalition. The intention is to create a broader platform that can integrate various personalities beyond the specific party names. The same sources have ruled out the participation of ERC in this equation.
