The decision by the Lleida City Council to close the hundred places in pavilion 3 before the fruit campaign concludes has drawn criticism from social entities, who believe it leaves many people unprotected. This measure, repeated annually, will free up the facilities at Fira de Lleida to host the Fira MOS-Sant Miquel, scheduled from September 25th to 27th.
During this summer season, municipal services have experienced high occupancy. For this reason, the City Council also opened pavilion 4 with an additional 160 overnight accommodation places, which was operational from August 3rd and remained open until August 24th to facilitate a progressive reduction in the number of temporary workers.
In parallel, the sheds at the Camps Elisis complex continue to be occupied by people sleeping rough in the city. The presence of homeless individuals sleeping on the streets is a constant in Lleida, with many seeking out secluded spots such as under bridges, in parks, vacant lots, or areas near the Renfe train station.
