In Lleida, the driving force comes from its female citizens. Over 76,000 women shape the city's vision for the future, from young students aiming to break barriers to entrepreneurs leading projects and women who sustain family, neighborhood, and collective life. They are the ones who preserve memory and build a more just society.
Recently, three fifth-grade students from Riu Segre school, Zoe, Lis, and Freya, won first prize in Technovation Girls in Catalonia with an innovative game to identify gluten-containing foods, raising awareness about celiac disease. Concurrently, a primary school team from ESO at the Joan Oró and Samuel Gili i Gaya centers, comprising Jordina, Èlia, Berta, and Joana, developed a mobile app on medicinal plants and personal care. These proposals highlight young women's ability to apply science and technology to well-being and sustainability.
This innovative spirit is supported by initiatives like the Rosa Siré scholarship, which backs feminist artistic research projects. The city also recognizes the importance of women in the business fabric, as highlighted at the Business Meeting in the Pyrenees. Its president, Montse Pujol, along with leaders like Patricia Romero and Dolors Puyol, exemplify perseverance and the capacity to generate new opportunities, inspiring future generations.
The city is also committed to the mobility and safety of all its inhabitants, especially the most vulnerable. Therefore, the Mobility Ordinance will be modified to regulate personal mobility vehicles, requiring registration and insurance to ensure coexistence and safety on the streets.
Next October, Lleida will host the congress Women Moving Cities, supported by the Department of Equality and Feminism of the Generalitat. This event, which already includes cities like A Coruña, Pamplona, Getafe, and Ontinyent, will be a meeting point to reflect on talent, equality, leadership, and the future, placing people at the center.
