The former CiU mayor of Aitona, Rosa Pujol, has formalized her agreement with the PSC to run in the upcoming 2027 municipal elections under socialist banners.

The first secretary of the PSC in Lleida and Minister of Agriculture, Òscar Ordeig, has finalized the agreement to incorporate Rosa Pujol, currently the mayor of Aitona and a prominent figure of Primer Aitona, into the socialist lists. This is not the first time Ordeig has attempted this recruitment, as negotiations in 2023 ultimately led Pujol to opt for Ara Pacte Local.
Rosa Pujol, who also serves as vice-president of the Lleida Provincial Council, governed by the PSC alongside ERC and Unitat d’Aran, will run under the PSC's white-label brand, Candidatura de Progreso (CP). Her councilors will be integrated into the socialist ranks at both the Lleida Provincial Council and the Segrià Comarcal Council.
At the agreement's presentation, Pujol highlighted the importance of institutional support for municipalities and stated that Primer Aitona will maintain its autonomy and identity. She emphasized the alignment with figures such as Minister Òscar Ordeig and Minister of the Presidency, Albert Dalmau.
For his part, Ordeig underscored the joint reflection and work on specific projects that led to the decision to combine synergies. He praised Pujol's municipal leadership, which has placed Aitona on the map of Catalonia, particularly in a rural and agricultural setting.
Recently, it was announced that the Generalitat will undertake the renovation of the historic bridge over the Segre river in Aitona, a key infrastructure for fruit transport built in 1917.
Rosa Pujol first became mayor of Aitona in 2010 through a motion of no confidence against ERC, with the support of CiU, the PSC, and the PP.
