The Lleida City Council has concluded the extraordinary accommodation facilities linked to the agrarian campaign, closing Pavilion 4 on August 24th and Pavilion 3 of Fira de Lleida on August 31st.
During peak demand, the Paeria managed nearly 400 spots, combining pavilions, apartments, and the Temporary Worker Attention Center (CAT), to assist both individuals seeking employment and those already working who needed lodging.
The One-Stop Office assisted a total of 1,676 people throughout the campaign, offering social and labor support and making referrals to various resources based on each person's situation.
This year saw a significant increase in arrivals, which at times led to a greater concentration of people sleeping on the streets, particularly around the Fira de Lleida area. This situation prompted the extraordinary activation of Pavilion 4, with 160 spots, temporarily expanding reception capacity.
The operation of the various facilities proceeded normally without notable incidents. Approximately sixty professionals, along with security and cleaning teams, participated in the initiative.
Despite the closure of extraordinary resources, the campaign continues. The Paeria will maintain around 130 spots in apartments and at the CAT until the end of September, primarily for individuals who continue to work. An additional 40 spots are available at the Seròs facility.
The Paeria will conduct a comprehensive evaluation of the campaign once all data has been analyzed and scheduled meetings with the Generalitat, the agricultural sector, and other involved stakeholders have taken place. This work will help analyze this year's increase in arrivals and prepare for future campaigns.
