The balance, presented by Mayor Fèlix Larrosa, reflects an 18% increase in tourist visits to the city, most of whom came from the metropolitan areas of Barcelona, Valencia, and Madrid. These figures consolidate the city as a “pole of attraction for visitors” during the holidays.
Among the most crowded events, the Three Kings Parade (Cabalgata de Los Reixos) gathered 25,000 people. Other key activities included the Cucalòcum, which received 17,000 visitors in “the largest edition in its history,” and the La Factoria dels Reixos show, with 13,000 attendees, according to data provided by Economic Promotion Councillor Pilar Bosch.
“"There is no point of comparison with what we were doing two years ago for these dates compared to now; we have given a great boost to these holidays so that the city becomes a pole of attraction for visitors."
Other points of interest also registered high attendance. The tourist bus had a thousand passengers, the Christmas Train (Trenet de Nadal) 5,000, and the Turó de la Seu Vella was visited by 2,100 people. The play Els Pastorets at L'Escorxador was seen by 1,128 spectators, and the concerts at the Auditori Enric Granados totaled 4,000 attendees.
Looking ahead to the next campaign, the municipal government has set the priority objective of having its network of dissuasive parking lots ready and connected to the public transport network, in order to facilitate mobility alternatives to private cars.
