During the last session of the Local Security Board, the evolution of crime data in the city was analyzed. The report indicates that criminal acts totaled 7,122, representing an overall decrease. At the same time, the effectiveness of police forces has grown, resolving 53% of cases, surpassing the 43.5% recorded in the same period of the previous year.
Regarding the type of crimes, thefts from inside vehicles have experienced a significant drop of 39.9%, while robberies with violence or intimidation have decreased by 13.8%. However, an increase in cybercrimes has been detected, especially in computer and banking fraud, which have limited a sharper decline in total crime.
One of the central points of the meeting was the increase in reports for non-compliance with municipal ordinances, which have risen by 17.10%. These infractions, mainly related to civility and waste management, have generated greater concern regarding the perception of insecurity among citizens. In response, the creation of a specific team within the Guàrdia Urbana has been announced to ensure compliance with coexistence regulations.
Finally, the issue of multi-recidivism was addressed, with a group of individuals accumulating a high number of arrests. Authorities have called for the need to strengthen judicial resources in Lleida to ensure a more effective response and have announced that new technological measures, such as the installation of cameras with artificial intelligence, will be implemented to reinforce security in the city.
