The operational launch of the water treatment plant at the Santa Anna reservoir, scheduled for year-end, will ensure that Lleida and the Pinyana water board have exceptionally high-quality water. This facility, constructed in 2010, will serve approximately 200,000 users.
According to the Ebro Hydrographic Confederation (CHE), the plant was designed to prevent future drought episodes. Although the water quality is already considered excellent, recent improvements tendered by the CHE will ensure a near 100% quality guarantee.
The president of the CHE, Carlos Arrazola, explained that the construction contract duration is seven months, ensuring completion before the year's end. He highlighted that the plant will cover situations such as drawing water near sediment or during repairs, always maintaining a high quality standard.
The mayor of Lleida, Fèlix Larrosa, thanked the CHE for activating this infrastructure, which had been built for over a decade without being used. The commissioning works, carried out by the company Ilerdagua, cost over 900,000 euros.
