The situation of the Cal Macià estate, also known as Casa Vallmanya and located in Alcarràs, continues to be a cause for concern. This property, the only one in Catalonia that belonged to president Francesc Macià and is classified as a National Heritage Site (BCIN), is in a state of disrepair that jeopardizes its preservation. Faced with the owner's refusal to undertake consolidation works and the notification of a Subsidiary Execution Order, the Salvem Cal Macià-Casa Vallmanya platform has decided to take action.
The entity has filed a notice of inaction with the Territorial Services of Culture of the Generalitat de Catalunya in Lleida. The document urges the administration to fulfill its duty to protect and enforce the conservation obligations of the property. Sources from the platform emphasize to El Món the need for the administration to "act and carry out the necessary actions to try to preserve the house," lamenting a new "impasse" in the process.
The platform fears that the Generalitat might delay its response to the appeal filed by the owner against the subsidiary execution of the shoring and consolidation works, a period that could extend for three months. They consider this halt "inadmissible" as it will worsen the house's condition and increase the responsibility of the Alcarràs City Council and the Generalitat itself in the deterioration of the protected heritage.
From Salvem Cal Macià, it is criticized that the Generalitat did not directly execute the works without giving the option of appeal. "We once again urge the Generalitat to execute the consolidation and maintenance works of Casa Vallmanya without losing another minute," they state, warning that any further delay could worsen the situation.
This situation could have legal consequences. Platform sources indicate that if the Generalitat does not intervene quickly, they will submit this documentation to the complaint already filed against the Alcarràs City Council and the Department of Culture for allowing the deterioration of the property. These facts are already being investigated by the Lleida Prosecutor's Office, which could open an administrative lawsuit against the Generalitat.
