The festival will open on Thursday, March 12, at the Cafè del Teatre with the English group Asian Dub Foundation (ADF). Formed in the early 90s in east London, ADF is known for fusing jungle rhythms, dub bass, and militant rap, inspired by their South Asian roots. ADF is also a pioneer in film concerts, notably performing the soundtrack to the French classic La Haine in 2001.
On Friday, March 13, Santiago Auserón will open the day at the Auditori Enric Granados, presenting his new project, La Academia Nocturna, where he reworks songs from his career with Radio Futura and Juan Perro. That same night, the acclaimed German musician and producer Shantel will provide a vibrant electronic session at the Cafè del Teatre.
Ben Harper's solo concert at La Llotja will be the only opportunity to enjoy the artist in Catalonia, as tickets for the Girona date have already sold out.
The closing of the MUD will be handled by Ben Harper, performing in a solo format on Sunday, March 15, at the Teatre de la Llotja. His music, which blends pop, reggae, blues, rock, and folk, has earned him three Grammy awards and a nomination for the Grammy Special Merit Award for Best Song for Social Change in 2023. This concert is a collaboration with the Black Music Festival.
The lineup also includes neofolk and roots music acts such as Terrae, presenting their first full-length album Nostre gra, and the duo L'Arannà, exploring the tradition of the Pitiüses Islands with the show Turmarí. Additionally, morning sessions will be held at the Cafè del Teatre featuring Pau Castellví, Ponent Roots, and El Pony Menut, the family version of El Pony Pisador.
