The Linguistic Normalization Center of Lleida inaugurated the 2026-2027 academic year yesterday evening at the Teatre de l'Escorxador, with an attendance of nearly 300 people.

The event was attended by students from Catalan courses, participants of the Voluntariat per la llengua (Volunteer for the Language program), representatives of collaborating social and cultural entities, and the CNL team. Following welcoming remarks from the Councilor for Culture of the Paeria de Lleida, Pilar Bosch, and the director of the CNL, Balbina Escolà, the Grup de Teatre Metxa performed the comedy "El millonari" by Yordan Yovkov.
This play, a classic of Bulgarian literature, has been translated and adapted into Catalan by the theatre group itself, which comprises current and former students of the CNL de Lleida's Catalan courses. The performance captivated the audience.
This September, the CNL de Lleida has launched 100 Catalan courses, offering a total of 1,880 places, both in-person and online. In Lleida city specifically, 45 courses have begun with over 900 places available, complemented by other programs and activities like VxL, Cafè conversa, and the Book Club to encourage speaking Catalan outside the classroom.
