The president of the Diputació de Lleida, Joan Talarn, inaugurated the Fira Mos, held at Fira de Lleida until Sunday. The Diputació has its own space, Gust de Lleida, dedicated to local products, gastronomy, and the territory, bringing together producers, regional councils, and various activities.
Talarn emphasized that the fair has become a platform to "explain who we are, what we produce, and, above all, what we aspire to be," highlighting Lleida's capacity to lead the agri-food sector due to its product diversity and the expertise of its professionals.
The goal of Gust de Lleida, according to Talarn, is to "bring Gust de Lleida to the streets, to the consumer," aiming for citizens to know, seek, and buy local products. The initiative unites "product, gastronomy, sport, territory, and citizenship" to connect local produce with the general public.
In this context, it was announced that a subsidy call will be launched in October to support the opening of farm shops and multi-service stores, aiming to facilitate the commercialization of local products and strengthen small businesses.
The first day included visits from several sports clubs associated with the Esport amb Gust de Lleida initiative, such as Club Gimnàstic Lleida, Força Lleida, Hoquei Club Alpicat, Lleida Llista Blava, and Vòlei Balàfia Lleida. These teams act as ambassadors for producers, increasing the visibility of Gust de Lleida.
Gastronomy was a highlight with seven demonstrations and tastings. Participating entities included Mychef Technologies, galetes El Rosal, the Escola d'Hoteleria i Turisme de Lleida, La Fundació Coma de Meià, Restaurant Ventador, Restaurant l’Espurna, and Restaurant Benet, presenting dishes with local ingredients like lamb, apple, and Pyrenean herbs.
Saturday's program features the presentation of the Acadèmia de la Gastronomia de Lleida, the unveiling of new Postuxapes, and visits from other sports clubs. New gastronomic proposals will also be offered, including gluten-free, vegan dishes, and creations using DOP products like the Pera de Lleida.
