The City Council of Lleida, known as La Paeria, has presented two key projects for the city's future to the Generalitat de Catalunya: reducing flood risk in the Segre river area and transforming the Mariola neighborhood.

The Mayor of Lleida, Fèlix Larrosa, met with the Councillor for Territory, Housing, and Ecological Transition, Sílvia Paneque, to collaborate on these strategic initiatives. Larrosa expressed gratitude for the Generalitat's willingness to support these actions.
A primary focus of the meeting was the Paeria's proposal to increase the hydraulic capacity of the Segre river canalization, with a budget of €5,141,527.51. This project, which includes dredging the riverbed, aims to ensure safety against maximum predicted flood flows over 100-year periods. These works are essential for advancing planned facilities on the left bank of the Segre, such as the new institute in Cappont, the expansion of the Camps Elisis school and the neighborhood's CAP (primary care center), as well as the Platges de Lleida project.
The Paeria intends to submit these projects for funding calls from the Catalan Water Agency (ACA) for flood risk reduction.
During the meeting, the Urban Improvement Plan for La Mariola was also presented, which envisions the transformation of a 23,000 m² area around the Mariola blocks, with interventions in urban planning, residential, social, and environmental aspects.
Representing the Generalitat at the meeting were the Secretary of the Department, Víctor Puga, and the Director of the ACA, Josep Lluís Armenter. Mayor Larrosa was accompanied by the First Deputy Mayor, Begoña Iglesias.
