The municipal works brigade has carried out the renovation of urban furniture in the Amics de Lleida square, located in the Xalets-Humbert Torres area. Four new benches and two chairs have been installed as part of the process to improve the city's public spaces.
This action aims to improve accessibility, as the new benches feature a higher seat and armrests, making them easier for elderly people or those with reduced mobility to use. The previous elements were aged and did not comply with current accessibility regulations.
This intervention follows up on improvements made during the summer by a brigade from the Municipal Employment Institute (IMO) to the perimeter fence and facade of the Sant Josep de Calassanç school, which has an entrance on the square.
Over the last four years, between 2023 and 2026, the municipal works brigade has installed a total of 350 new benches and 750 bins in various parts of the city to enhance the quality of public spaces.
