The Mayor of Lleida, Fèlix Larrosa, accompanied by the Councillor for Culture, Pilar Bosch, the commissary of the event, Màrius Bernadó, and the Director of Territorial Services for Culture, Montse Parra, has reviewed what he described as a "very positive year". The commemoration, which has included 270 events worldwide over nearly two years with the collaboration of over a hundred organizing and collaborating entities, has generated an estimated economic impact of 1.85 million euros.
Larrosa has called on citizens to fill the auditorium, emphasizing that this closing concert marks not the end of Viñes's legacy, but the continuation of efforts to promote "one of the most universal cultural figures" from the city. The mayor expressed his "pride" that Lleida "recognizes the protagonists of its history" and highlighted how the Year of Viñes has strengthened the city's "cultural capital" status, with activities held in countries such as France, the United States, Belgium, and Germany.
Viñes's legacy will endure through educational, cultural, heritage, and urbanistic initiatives. These include renaming the Ricard Viñes Municipal Conservatory, establishing the Ricard Viñes Scholarship for Higher Music Studies Abroad, a new large-scale urban art mural in Plaça Ricard Viñes by Oriol Arumí, the digitization of the family's documentary collection, the consolidation of the Ricard Viñes International Piano Competition, and the celebration of the first Viñenale. Restoration work is also underway on his desk and office chair, which will be exhibited at the Auditorium alongside reproductions of posters.
The Director of Territorial Services for Culture, Montse Parra, specifically thanked the archival and digitization work on the Viñes Collection, deposited at the Municipal Archive and the University of Lleida, for "making Viñes's legacy accessible to everyone". Meanwhile, commissary Màrius Bernadó expressed the ambition to "turn Lleida into the gateway to the Viñes universe" and announced upcoming publications, research articles, a theatrical performance, and a documentary.
The free closing concert, requiring advance booking of invitations, will feature pianist Josep Colom, a recipient of the National Music Prize. The evening will commence at 8 PM and will include the world premiere of "Preludio-mosaico en homenaje a Ricard Viñes", alongside a repertoire that Viñes himself premiered or decisively helped to popularize. Bernadó described the concert as "exceptional" due to the quality of the works and the performance of Colom, whom he called the "most recognized active Catalan pianist".
