The works begin on Pi i Margall street, in the section between Prat de la Riba avenue and Plaça del Treball, and on Rosa Parks avenue, between Hospitalers de Sant Joan and Penedès streets. These actions are part of a broader plan that also includes Pius XII street and the area around Xavier Puig Andreu, which will start soon.
On Pi i Margall street, the tasks, which begin on May 12, will focus on the even-numbered side. The sidewalk will be widened from 2.4 to 3 meters, 115 meters of drinking water pipe and domestic connections will be renewed. In addition, 14 specimens of Prunus serrulata (Japanese cherry tree) will be planted to provide shade, and the asphalt pavement of the street will be completely renewed.
The works on this road will be carried out in two phases to minimize inconvenience. During the first phase, vehicle traffic will be diverted through Passatge de la Premsa to Paer Casanovas street. In the second phase, the parking lane will be enabled to keep traffic open until Plaça del Treball. Access to shops and homes will be guaranteed at all times through walkways, and there will be a loading and unloading area, as well as parking for ambulances. The execution period is 3 months, with a budget of 133,049.56 €.
Starting on May 14, the Paeria will also begin works on Rosa Parks avenue, affecting the odd-numbered side. In addition to the renovation of 340 m² of sidewalk pavement, it will include the total renovation of the drinking water network and public lighting in a 100-meter section, with the incorporation of two new light points. The trees will also be renewed with the planting of 9 specimens of Fraxinus Ornus (flowering ash). For safety, one of the two traffic lanes will be allocated to pedestrians and accesses, reducing traffic to a single lane. The estimated duration is three months and the budget is 127,443.73 €.
