The Tumultuosa festival has scheduled eight chamber music concerts for November, taking place in six wineries and two restaurants in Lleida. These events combine the classical music of the Julià Carbonell Symphony Orchestra of Terres de Lleida (OJC) with the wines and gastronomy of Gust de Lleida. The festival is organized by Como Pomona and the OJC, with support from the Institut d’Estudis Ilerdencs and Gust de Lleida, and sponsorship from Missatges, Grues Minguella, and Plusfresc.
The festival was presented at the IEI's Aula Magna, attended by the IEI's vice-president, Estefania Rufach; the Deputy of Economic Promotion, Jordi Verdú; the director of the OJC, Xavier Pagès-Corella; and the director of Como Pomona, Rafa Gimena. Rufach highlighted the OJC's ability to bring music to unusual spaces and how initiatives like Tumultuosa contribute to regional growth by connecting culture, producers, and landscape.
Jordi Verdú noted the combination of quality music, wineries, producers, restaurants, and local businesses as an ideal formula for promoting the territory, under the Gust de Lleida brand. Xavier Pagès-Corella explained the selection of unique venues and repertoires tailored to each location's personality, while Rafa Gimena described the initiative as an experience that nourishes the senses and the soul, including themed dinners and winery tours.
Twenty-five performers from the OJC are participating in the 'l’OJC als Cellers' (OJC in the Wineries) cycle. The wineries Raimat (Lleida), Lagravera (Alfarràs), Mas Blanch i Jové (la Pobla de Cérvoles), Vinya els Vilars (Arbeca), Clos Pons (l’Albagés), and Castell del Remei (Penelles) will host concerts featuring guided tours and tastings of local wines and products. The program also includes cello and guitar concerts at the restaurants Ferreruela and L’Espurna in Lleida.
The musical program spans from the Baroque to the 20th century, featuring works by composers such as Bach, Mozart, and Dvořák, alongside Catalan composers like Granados and Teixidor. The cycle begins on November 1st at the Raimat winery with the Teixidor Quartet, followed by performances at Lagravera (November 6th), L’Espurna (November 7th), Mas Blanc i Jové (November 8th), Ferreruela (November 12th), Vinya els Vilars (November 15th), Clos Pons (November 21st), and Castell del Remei (November 22nd).
Tumultuosa champions wineries and restaurants as cultural and meeting spaces, offering an experience that blends chamber music, wine culture, and gastronomic products to explore the richness of the Lleida region.
