Girona FC officially confirmed the loan of Colombian midfielder Jhon Solís to Birmingham in the Championship, a crucial move that frees up the non-EU quota spot for the imminent arrival of Argentine talent Claudio Echeverri.

The transfer of Solís, announced jointly with the English club, is a loan until the end of the season. This step was essential for Girona to formalize the incorporation of Echeverri, who arrives on loan from Manchester City.
Jhon Solís, who arrived in the summer of 2023 from Atlético Nacional de Medellín for 6 million euros, might not return to Montilivi. If the Colombian plays a minimum of 11 matches for Birmingham, the English club will be obliged to buy him for 8 million euros, allowing Girona to recover the investment with profit.
Claudio Echeverri, who has been training under Míchel Sánchez for over two weeks, already traveled with the squad and participated in the victory photo in the locker room after the match against Espanyol. The Argentine can now be registered calmly to debut against Getafe at Montilivi on Monday, January 26.
The coach from Vallecas thus gains another attacking element, a player trained at River Plate who will provide energy, verticality, and depth. Echeverri, who turned 20 on January 2, is keen to prove that City did not make a mistake paying 18.5 million euros for his signing.
