The town of Blanes hosted the 82nd Popular Crossing, a swimming competition with a long-standing tradition in the Selva municipality. This year, the event saw the participation of 360 people, who completed a circular circuit of approximately 900 meters within the bay. This activity is designed to be accessible to participants of all ages, including family participation.
The course led swimmers from the beach towards Sa Palomera, and then back to the starting point along the outer part of the bay. A considerable crowd gathered at the finish line to applaud all participants.
Since 2023, the medals awarded to participants are made from ecological wood, in line with Blanes' Agenda 2030 objectives. This practice also applies to the trophies for the top finishers and special award recipients.
The crossing included three competitive categories: Women's Open, Men's Open, and Special Open for individuals with visual impairments and reduced mobility. A fourth category, Non-Binary Open, was considered but could not be activated due to a lack of registrations.

In the Women's Open, Isona Moncanut took first place, followed by Paula Bautista and Maria Gallart. In the Men's Open, Alan Mateo topped the podium, accompanied by Guillem Pujol and Marc Pou. In the men's special category, Jesús Garcia was awarded. The prizes for the fastest male and female swimmers from Blanes went to Ricard Pujol and Ivette Bas, respectively.
The Blanes City Council also recognizes the youngest and oldest participants. Clàudia Morató (11 years old) and Ian Bedford (8 years old) were the youngest. Neus Coll (76 years old) and Josep 'Pitu' Moran (84 years old) repeated as the most veteran swimmers.
