Blanes secures five medals in the Spanish Autonomous Regional Handball Championship

The Blanes Sports City hosted the final of the 2026 Spanish Handball Championship, concluding the edition with three gold and two silver medals for the local teams.

The Blanes Sports City hosted the final of the 2026 Spanish Autonomous Regional Handball Championship on Thursday, January 8, gathering over 2,300 athletes and 103 teams from across Spain.

The competition, which took place in various venues across the territory, culminated in Blanes with the final day. The event brought together a total of 2,340 athletes, distributed across 103 teams who played 303 matches in the children's, cadet, and youth categories, both male and female.
The local selections achieved an excellent result, securing five medals: three gold and two silver, with only one team failing to reach the podium. The gold medals were won by the Men's Cadet, Men's Youth, and Men's Children's teams.
Silver medals went to the Women's Children's and Women's Cadet teams. The Men's Youth final was particularly exciting, ending in a decisive 36 to 24 victory, captivating the attending fans.

This edition, the third consecutive held in Blanes, generated an economic impact exceeding 2 million euros for the locality.

The awards ceremony was attended by Mayor Jordi Hernández, Sports Councillor Mònica Rabassa, and the presidents of the Catalan and Spanish Handball federations, highlighting the organizational success of Blanes.
