The decision was made during the August municipal plenary session, where the tender specifications received the support of most political forces, with the abstention of the CUP. The total project cost covers not only the building but also the development of the surrounding area and the fencing of the plot, aspects that were not initially considered.
The future headquarters, which will span over 3,100 square meters, will be located in the Pla Parcial Costa Brava. It will feature two access points: one from Parlament Avenue, near the Sa Forcanera School, and another from the Carretera d'Accés a la Costa Brava.
With a built area of 3,105.89 square meters, the new facilities will represent a significant improvement compared to the current premises on Joan Carles I Avenue, which were inaugurated in the 1980s. The new station will provide more space for crisis rooms, meeting rooms, changing rooms, archives, and storage areas, in addition to improving access for police vehicles and the circuit for transporting detainees.
Once the tender is approved by the plenary, the official announcement will be sent to the Official Journal of the European Union. Interested companies will have two months to submit their proposals. It is estimated that, after the contract is awarded and formalized, the construction works will take approximately 20 months from the signing of the site survey report.
