This new energy community will comprise the City Council and twenty residents of Santa Coloma de Farners. For four years, participants will be able to utilize one kilowatt of the electricity produced for their homes or premises, in exchange for an annual fee. The council has announced that applications will open soon.
The installation features 56 solar panels, with a total peak power of 25.2 kilowatts and a 20-kilowatt inverter. It is projected to produce approximately 31,700 kilowatt-hours annually, allowing each participating household to receive about 1,260 kilowatt-hours per year.
According to municipal calculations, this renewable energy production will prevent the emission of nearly 15,250 kilograms of carbon dioxide annually, thus contributing to carbon footprint reduction.
This initiative was made possible by a 30,000 euro subsidy granted by the Provincial Council of Girona, as part of the 'Del Pla a l’Acció 2024-2025' program, aimed at promoting shared self-consumption energy communities with citizens.
