Lloret de Mar will host this Sunday, October 25th, the third edition of the solidarity race 'Corre per les Mames', organized by Oncolliga Lloret with the support of the City Council and the Sports Council of La Selva, to raise funds against breast cancer.

The initiative, framed within World Breast Cancer Day, aims to raise public awareness and obtain funds for research into the disease. The Councilor for Health, Vereda López, encouraged residents to participate: “We encourage residents to participate in this race and contribute their bit to the fight against breast cancer. Every step counts!”.
The 5-kilometer race will start at 10 am at Domènec Moner square. The route is suitable for everyone, whether running or walking, under the slogan ‘Walk or run, you choose!’. Registration costs 12 euros and can be completed online via the website [www.correperlesmames.cat](file://fitxers-vdi/fitxers_usuaris/rgiralt/Desktop/www.correperlesmames.cat). All proceeds will go to Oncolliga to support people affected by cancer and their families.
After the race, several prizes will be raffled among participants using their bib numbers. The 'Corre per les Mames' initiative is being held this year in 24 towns in the Girona region.
On the occasion of World Breast Cancer Day, celebrated on October 19th, the Department of Health highlights the importance of early detection. In Catalonia, 5,630 cases of breast cancer were diagnosed in 2025, and 1,069 deaths were estimated. The five-year survival rate after diagnosis is 90%, with incidence and mortality rates remaining stable over the last decade.
