The president of Oncolliga Lloret, Erwin Cárdenas, expressed gratitude for the initiative, highlighting how the campaign merges the tradition of the festival's handkerchiefs with a solidarity purpose. He emphasized the importance of citizen participation and the involvement of local businesses in transforming a festive element into an act of support for people with cancer and their families.
This year, the handkerchiefs were orange, with over 4,000 units sold at a symbolic price of 2 euros each. The Councillor for Commerce, Cristina Aymerich, noted that the amount raised has doubled last year's figure, exceeding 8,000 euros.
The 'Solidarity Handkerchiefs' initiative celebrates its 21st edition this year, having begun in 2005. Since 2014, the campaign has directed its profits to various social causes, having previously collaborated with organizations such as MIFAS, Aspronis, the special education school Ventijol, Punt d’Equilibri, and Cáritas.
