The turf renovation will take place during the break in sports competitions for the Christmas holidays. The project also includes the installation of two new full-size football goalposts and four smaller ones for 7-a-side football, a new scoreboard, and the club's crest integrated into the center of the field.
Additionally, the wall located at the corner of Santa Margarida and Flors streets, which was damaged by recent rainstorms, will be reinforced.
The announcement of this renovation was made public last Saturday during the presentation of the Sant Hilari – Font Vella Sports Club teams for the new season. The club currently has 15 teams and 230 players, and this year is adding two veteran teams, as well as offering weekend skills training courses.
Notable is the case of Flavio Ribeiro, a player who was with the club until he was 18 and now plays in the Primera Federación with Club Esportiu Europa.
The history of football in Sant Hilari Sacalm dates back to January 1923, when a group of residents requested 500 pesetas from the City Council to create a football pitch, deeming it a "much-felt need" to increase the number of summer visitors. The Sant Hilari Sports Club was founded on June 24, 1923, with the first matches played that summer near Font Vella. In 1935, the team moved to Vista Alegre, on land that became municipal property in 1971. In 1984, the stadium's lighting was improved with contributions from the Generalitat, the Diputació, and the City Council.
