The city of Solsona is under Level 3 alert of the Alfa Plan, a measure established by the Generalitat de Catalunya that prohibits pyrotechnic shows due to extreme forest fire risk. This situation compels the City Council to postpone the traditional firework display that marked the beginning of the Festival.
Despite the postponement, the event will not be definitively cancelled. After consulting with the competent authorities, it has been decided to reschedule the firework display for Thursday, September 10th, at ten at night. The new date is contingent upon improved weather conditions and fire risk.
The rest of Solsona's Festival program remains unaffected. Activities such as the 'tronades' (firecrackers), 'rodes de foc' (fire wheels), and 'correfoc' (fire run), which take place within the old town, are not impacted by current restrictions as they do not pose a forest fire risk.
The Solsona City Council has expressed regret for this mandatory modification, emphasizing that the priority is to ensure public safety, protect the natural environment, and comply with current regulations. They appreciate the public's understanding in this exceptional situation.
The Alfa Plan, managed by the Cuerpo d’Agents Rurals (Rural Agents Corps), is an operational procedure that defines surveillance and forest fire prevention actions. This plan is evaluated daily on a five-level scale (0 to 4) to precisely adjust preventive measures for each municipality.
