The heat episode is expected to intensify significantly this Sunday, with maximum temperatures widely exceeding 30 degrees Celsius throughout the region. Inland areas, particularly Terra Alta and Ribera d’Ebre, could see thermometers approach 40 degrees.
Meteocat has activated a yellow alert for heat across most of the province. However, the risk level will be higher in Ribera d’Ebre and Conca de Barberà, where the warning is elevated to orange.
The most critical period will arrive on Monday. The meteorological agency forecasts maximum temperatures of up to 40 degrees Celsius in large areas of Terres de l’Ebre and Priorat between 6:00 AM and 6:00 PM. Other regions in Tarragona will experience temperatures ranging between 31 and 35 degrees.
In addition to daytime heat, nights will also be notably warm. Minimum temperatures are expected to hover around 20 degrees Celsius in much of the province, making rest difficult.
The Meteorological Service of Catalonia updates the meteorological situation warning for intense heat. The episode corresponds to a heatwave, and the maximum danger level is 4 out of 6.
Meteocat advises extreme caution, especially for vulnerable groups, recommending avoiding sun exposure during the hottest hours, staying well-hydrated, and limiting strenuous outdoor physical activity.
