The operation, primarily conducted in Reus, Salou, and Tarragona, led to the seizure of 25,699 allegedly counterfeit items, 30,400 euros in cash, and machinery used for the counterfeiting process. The investigation, initiated last March by the Mossos d'Esquadra's Investigation Unit in Tarragona, has confirmed the existence of an established criminal structure with a defined logistics chain, from sourcing products to final distribution.
According to the investigation, unmarked products were obtained in Badalona and transported to Tarragona for manipulation, where brand logos were added. Subsequently, the material was distributed in fragmented batches for street vending. A 41-year-old man has been identified as the alleged coordinator of acquisition, transport, storage, and distribution.
The first phase of the operation on June 14th intercepted vehicles carrying counterfeit goods, seizing 9,892 items. The second phase on June 17th involved six search warrants in Salou and Reus, along with three administrative inspections at industrial warehouses in Badalona.
In total, 43 individuals were identified and 28 were arrested. The seizures include 25,699 allegedly counterfeit items, two vans loaded with products, and 30,400 euros. A laser printing machine, stickers, and brand plates used for counterfeiting were also found. The total weight of the seized material is estimated at nearly 10 tons.
The operation involved 128 officers from the three police forces, supported by a Mossos d'Esquadra helicopter and the Guardia Civil's Pegaso drone unit. The investigation focused on the supply chain rather than the street vendors themselves.
Of the 28 detainees, two have been brought before the judicial authorities, while the rest were released on bail, required to report to the judge when summoned.
