The decision by Civil Protection follows a serious accident in the rocky area known as La Cova del Gos, located between these two beaches, which has shocked the city. This incident has heightened concerns for safety along the Tarragona coastline.
In addition to the two beaches with a total swimming ban, a total of 26 beaches on the Costa Daurada are flying yellow flags. This situation affects practically the entire Tarragona coastline, from Terres de l’Ebre to Baix Penedès, warning of dangerous maritime conditions.
Always respect the instructions of lifeguards and the flag system, especially on beaches flying a red flag, which means swimming is completely prohibited.
The events that triggered the alert occurred on Friday, when three teenagers became trapped in the rocky area. Rescue teams managed to recover them, but a 12-year-old boy died at the scene. A second minor, aged 13 and a player for the Tecnifutbol club, died this Saturday at the Hospital Joan XXIII, where he had been admitted in critical condition. A third teenager remains hospitalized in serious condition.
