The Port of Tarragona has consolidated its dynamism during the first half of 2026, achieving an accumulated maritime traffic of 15,120,848 tons. This figure represents an increase of 6.5% compared to the same period of the previous year. In June alone, the increase was 6.9%, with a total of 2,463,953 tons moved at the Tarragona docks.
The bulk liquids group continues to be the main driver of port activity, with an accumulated total of 9,894,677 tons between January and June, up 7.9%. Within this group, chemical products stand out particularly with an 18.6% growth, exceeding 2 million tons. Crude oil, with 4.47 million tons, remains the cargo with the most weight, representing 29.6% of the total traffic, while other petroleum products have increased by 12.5%.
Bulk solids also closed the semester with a favorable balance, registering 4,302,544 tons, an increase of 7.5%. Despite the decline in coal and petroleum coke (-39.3%), this decrease has been offset by the good performance of other goods. The agri-food sector, a strategic asset, has seen the movement of cereals, feed, and flour grow by 4.6%, totaling 2.84 million tons. The increase in iron ore should also be highlighted, with its movements increasing by 54% to reach 812,892 tons.
Regarding general cargo, despite a slight accumulated decrease of 9.7%, the containerized cargo segment shows a positive trend with a 7.7% growth in TEUs. In the area of automobiles, the month of June was particularly positive with the loading and unloading of 19,117 units, 10.6% more than in June 2025, inviting optimism for the second half of the year despite the overall figure still being below the previous year.
The Port of Tarragona received 28 cruise calls (+16.7%) during the first semester, with a total of 36,992 passengers. Finally, land logistics recorded 1,258,176 movements of vehicles (trucks and cars) through the accesses of the Eix Transversal, Reus, and Llevant, an increase of 4.4% reflecting the dynamism of the port's logistics chain.
