The professor, an expert in energy law, succeeds Antoni Pigrau at the helm of Tarragona's academic institutions.

Professor Endrius Cocciolo has been appointed the new director of the Center for Environmental Law Studies of Tarragona (CEDAT) and the Alcalde Pere Lloret Chair of Environmental Law Studies at the Universitat Rovira i Virgili, succeeding Antoni Pigrau.
Professor Endrius Cocciolo has taken office as director of the Center for Environmental Law Studies of Tarragona (CEDAT) and the Alcalde Pere Lloret Chair of Environmental Law Studies, affiliated with the Universitat Rovira i Virgili. Cocciolo succeeds Antoni Pigrau, a Public Law professor and founder of both institutions, whom he has led for almost two decades.
Both the new director and the members of the CEDAT's board of directors acknowledged Antoni Pigrau's intellectual leadership, his ability to build an academic community, and his constant dedication to the center's project during the appointment ceremony.
Cocciolo has expressed his intention to consolidate CEDAT as a leading center for environmental law studies in Catalonia and Spain, and as an internationally recognized academic space. His goal is to maintain the center's mission from a perspective of environmental, climate, and energy justice, despite current challenges. He also emphasized the importance of strengthening the center's research, training, and social impact.
Endrius Cocciolo is an associate professor of Administrative Law at URV, accredited as a full professor, and specializes in energy law and the governance of the ecological transition. He holds a law degree from the Università del Salento (Italy) and a doctorate from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, with a cum laude distinction and an extraordinary award.
He currently coordinates the European project MSCA-DN THERESA on the hydrogen economy and renewable energy, and has been a principal co-investigator for the state project ComEnerSys on the regulation of community energy systems. Additionally, he is the lead researcher for several projects within the framework of the Industrial Doctorates program of the Generalitat de Catalunya. Cocciolo also serves as the academic coordinator for the Interuniversity Master's Degree in Public Administration Law and is a member of the Managing Board of the European Environmental Law Forum (EELF).
