The storm triggered the activation of the NEUCAT and INUNCAT plans due to intense rainfall in Camp de Tarragona and heavy snow in the Pyrenees this Saturday, requiring maximum caution.

The rain and snow storm dropped over 80 liters per square meter in parts of Camp de Tarragona this Saturday, affecting regions such as Tarragonès, Baix Camp, Alt Camp, and Conca de Barberà. Highlights include 83.6 liters in La Riba, 72.8 liters in Montblanc, and 66.3 liters in Constantí, according to Servei Meteorològic data.
The forecast for intense precipitation forced Protecció Civil to activate the NEUCAT (snow) and INUNCAT (flooding) plans to alert phase. A generous snowfall is expected above 1,000 meters in the Western Pyrenees, with accumulations exceeding 40 centimeters above 2,000 meters.

The avalanche risk is level 3 (marked) in all sectors above 2,200 meters and level 2 (moderate) below this elevation.

The episode has caused the closure of two roads (access to Port Ainé and the BV-4024 at Coll de Pal) and mandatory chain use on a dozen routes. The 112 emergency phone received 72 calls until 11 a.m., with Tarragonès being the most affected region, especially the municipality of Perafort.
The episode is expected to intensify on Monday 19 and Tuesday 20, with rains spreading with greater intensity to the regions of Barcelona and Girona. Strong waves are also expected, with swells over 2.5 meters in Alt and Baix Empordà.
