A disoriented manta ray was spotted swimming very close to the shore of Llarga beach in Roda de Berà this Wednesday, July 29, prompting lifeguards to intervene and return it to deeper waters.

The specimen, which showed no apparent injuries, was detected by the first beachgoers of the day, coinciding with the first day of a heatwave. Its proximity to the coast alerted the rescue services.
Lifeguards used a net and a rope to surround the manta ray. Once out of the water, they transported it by jet ski to a deeper area to ensure its survival.
The operation attracted the curiosity of the numerous bathers enjoying the beach on a day of high temperatures.
