A new shared security mobile application will be operational within a maximum of one year for seven municipalities in the Camp de Tarragona. The council of Reus, in collaboration with Cambrils, El Catllar, La Canonja, Constantí, Mont-roig del Camp, and Tarragona, has awarded the contract to develop this tool that will enable quick and direct communication with local police forces in emergency situations.
The announcement was made in the plenary hall of Reus, with the presence of representatives from all involved municipalities. The mayor of Reus, Sandra Guaita, highlighted the importance of innovation, proximity, and institutional cooperation to enhance security given the mobility of criminals between towns. The mayor of Tarragona, Rubén Viñuales, agreed on the need to break away from municipalism and cooperate to meet the public's demand for security.
The awarded company, Goil Security SL, based in El Vendrell, has prior experience in similar projects. The contract, valued at 629,315.86 euros and jointly funded by the seven municipalities, includes supply, implementation, and three years of support, maintenance, and updates.
The new application will be free and intuitive, allowing users to send emergency alerts with automatic geolocation to the relevant local police and receive information from municipal security forces. Initially, it will feature an SOS button to identify the user and their location, with plans to implement more tools such as audio and video recording, which can serve as valid material in judicial proceedings.
The project also includes a shared management platform to improve coordination among the local police forces of the seven municipalities, maintaining the autonomy of each council while operating on a common technological infrastructure for integrated responses.
This initiative is the result of collaboration between the town councils and the cooperation agreement signed on January 28, 2025. The project is supported by the Association for the Metropolitan Impulse of Camp de Tarragona to promote its implementation and use.
