Precipitation has exceeded 200 liters per square meter in some areas of southern Catalonia, with 140 liters recorded in El Vendrell and Torredembarra between 10 PM and 6 AM. In El Vendrell alone, 100 liters fell in just three hours. Rail traffic was interrupted on several lines (R2 Sud, R4, R13, R14, R15, R16, R17, and RT2) due to flooding at the Sant Vicenç de Calders station, although services were partially restored in the morning with altered schedules.
Three people were injured, one critically, when a wall collapsed at the Port de Roda de Berà shortly after 2 AM. The other two injured are in serious and less serious condition. Additionally, the Les Sirenes campsite in Creixell and a nightclub in El Vendrell had to be evacuated. About a hundred young people were transferred to the Pla de Mar school, where a reception center was set up, as well as at the sports center in Roda de Berà and the municipal hall in Creixell.
The emergency number 112 received nearly 700 calls, and firefighters responded to 192 incidents overnight. The seafront area of El Vendrell is one of the most affected zones, with flooded ground floors and hotel lobbies. The injured were transported to Joan XXIII Hospital in Tarragona and Santa Tecla Hospital.
The mayor of El Vendrell, Kenneth Martínez, described the night as "very long," with intense rainfall between 1 AM and 4 AM. He noted that the coastal strip and ravines were "overflowing," although the water accumulation had receded by morning, leaving puddles and stranded cars. A young woman who had entered a swollen stream also had to be rescued.
Martínez acknowledged it was "a situation we have never seen before," exceeding expectations despite forecasts of significant rain. The main damages affect urban furniture, the beach, and numerous private cars, in addition to flooded basements, for which water extraction pumps have already been activated.
